TURKISH-BRITISH SHIPPING FORUM

The Turkish Chamber of Shipping will be hosting the next Turkish-British Shipping Forum in Istanbul on Tuesday, 15 November.

The initiative is part of the UK Maritime Trade Mission to Türkiye. The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers has been invited to participate to the discussion panel about Professional Development in Shipping and Trade.

Melis will cover how marine insurers deal with current volatile political and economic environment - war, inflation and currency disparity. Regulatory framework, specifically sanctions regime, and technological pace, are driving automation and AI in insurance services are the biggest challenges, but as in Covid-era, in these times of uncertainty, it is an opportunity for London marine insurance market to provide expertise and deliver.

16:15 - Presentation: Supporting professionalism in shipping and trade

MATT GILBERT, Head of Business & Partnerships, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS)

Matt will talk about origins and development of ICS and how it is raising the bar in certifying professionals to common standards worldwide, addressing skills gaps in the maritime sector and working with partners.

16:30 - Panel: Advantages of English Law and the UK jurisdiction in charterparties and newbuilding contract dispute resolution
