Recognised Qualifications

Want to get a shipping qualification that is recognised worldwide?

The Institute of Chartered Shipbroker's London School of Shipping is for you.

The London School of Shipping has been offering for the last few years a range of 14 courses intended to help students qualify for three recognised qualifications: the Foundaitonal Diploma, the Advanced Diploma and the Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQE). Students holding a PQE are eligeble to membership to the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

Foundation Diploma

In order to achieve a Foundational Diploma, students must pass examinations in 2 different subjects, one of which must be the core subject Introduction to Shipping, the second can be chosen by the candidates among the other offered in our syllabus.

Advanced Diploma

Requirements for achieving an Advanced Diploma are similar to that of the Foundational Diploma. The student must pass examinations in 2 subjects, one of which must be the core subject Shipping Business, the second can be chosen by the candidates among the other offered in our syllabus.

Professional Qualifying Examinations

The Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQE) are the pinnacle of the Institute's qualification. Completion of these exams is synonymous of one's developed knowledge and understanding of the commercial shipping industry.

This recognised professional qualification comprises passed examinations in a total of 7 subjects, four of which must be the Institute's compulsory core subjects in our syllabus. The remaining 3 can be chosen from a list of optional subjects. The seven exams must be passed within a period of five years.

The Institute's online classes at the London School of Shipping are designed to support candidates in preparing for their Institute exams.

From this year, the Institute will offer the London School of Shipping traditional classes through its new learning platform: the ICS Online Academy.
