Overview

The next Members Only webinar is scheduled to take place on the 9^th March 2023 at 1400GMT.  The webinar will be looking at digitalisation in shipping, the changes in business practice, the legislation surrounding it and a look at a platform designed to assist.  We are sure the session will be informative and useful!

Speakers

Punit Oza FICS

Punit, currently the CEO of WIZ Bulk, has over 30 years of experience in Dry Bulk Shipping, holding senior management positions in some leading shipping companies including Precious Shipping, Noble & Klaveness. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, UK and currently the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Branch of the Institute.

Punit spearheaded the digital transformation of Klaveness Dry Bulk and is currently a SSA-MPA Maritime Digitalization Playbook Ambassador. He is also an angel investor and advisor in Motion Ventures, a VC fund focused on Maritime and Supply Chain startups.

Punit holds a Masters in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Bayes (previously CASS) Business School and a LLB from University of London.

Punit is a Senior Adjunct Fellow at MPA Academy as well as an Affiliated Research Fellow & Guest Lecturer at Singapore Management University.

Alex Andreou

Alex is an Associate in HFW's Shipping Department focussing on dispute resolution, commercial contracts, and international trade regulation. Alex sits within the Department's Dry Shipping, Sustainability and Logistics sub-sector teams. He advises on and handles disputes in respect of shipping contracts and has advised extensively on the regulatory and contractual risks arising out of emissions regulations.

Alex spent two years working in the international trade team of the UK's Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, where he was responsible for bringing the Electronic Trade Documents Bill before Parliament. Alex now supports clients in respect of electronic bills of lading and has experience drafting software as a service agreements for electronic bills.

Alex focuses on the Japanese market and was seconded to a Japanese insurer in Tokyo. He spent six months working in the firm's Dubai office.

Alex is qualified in England and Wales.

Alexander Vavarenko FICS

Alexander Varvarenko Belgian shipping and digital technology entrepreneur, with 22 year experience in international shipping and transportation of dry bulk, breakbulk and containerized cargo.

Founder of Varamar - an international shipping and transportation company - and a Founder of Shipnext - a digital shipping platform - Alexander is actively transforming the international shipping business.

Above all Alexander Varvarenko is a father of 4 children, an investor and a speaker on innovation and digitalization of shipping, transportation and supply chain management.

The event will be moderated by Peter Molloy FICS, who is a dedicated member of the Membership Committee.  Peter has built his own company in the areas of Vessel valuations, Market research and Risk assessments. Peter's varied experience in situations where digitization has advantages will hopefully put him in a position to stimulate conversation.
