Singapore Branch Bi-monthly Talk
Topic: "Can you build a ship properly in China? Yes, here is how!"
Speaker: Capt. Mike Meade AFNI
Date: Thursday, 12th January 2017
Time: 6:30pm - 9:00pm
Venue: Singapore Shipping Association (Lounge)
Due to the cheaper cost of building vessels in China, ship owners have flocked to China to build, however the perception is that there are still issues with the quality of the vessels constructed.
This was a legacy issue, but now with the experience of shipyards, the understanding of what supervision levels are needed, good quality equipment used in the makers list, on-time delivery and better contracting: it looks like China can build "anything".
This talk is not going to be a generic macroeconomic talk about Chinese shipyards, please note that the topic of the talk has been tailored to show that diligence from the owner and a few "no-brainer" tips will help saving a fair bit of money and have delivered what has been ordered, on time and on budget!
Captain Mike Meade is the founder and CEO of the M3 Marine Group, based in Singapore.
