Posted on Friday, April 13, 2012
PROPOSALS TO AMEND DIRECTIVE 1999/32/EC REGARDING SULPHUR EMISSIONS FROM SHIPS - ECASBA POSITION PAPER (click to download) has today been sent to senior members of the European Commission expressing ECASBA's concerns about the above mentioned proposals and the detrimental effect they will have on the transport of goods by sea within European waters. Copies will also be sent to the senior members of the European Parliament's Transport and Environment Committees.
The extremely detrimental effects of the proposed actions on our sector, as well as on the rest of the European maritime industry, cannot be over stated and so ECASBA would urge all member associations to pass this letter on to their national authorities and their European Parliament members and to lobby, at the very least, for a full impact assessment study into the effects of the proposals to be carried out.
