The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Middle East branch conducted Networking Dinner Event on 19th December 2023 at Dusit Thani, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. It was attended by close to 100 shipping professionals from the region.
The event started with a networking session over High Tea. This event was moderated by Janani Yagnamurthy, FICS at ICS ME Branch. The highlight of the session was the panel discussion on the updated UAE Maritime Law - "What's new for charterers and shipowners. The panellists were Mr. Yaman Al Hawamdeh, Mr. Alessandro Tricoli and Ms. Natalie Jensen and the session was eloquently moderated by Captain Zarir Irani FICS. The session became very interactive as the branch used technology where attendees could post questions from their phones which would be automatically displayed on screen.
The branch also welcomed the Ahmed Moieddeen Khaja Shamshuddin, MICS and Janani Yagnamurthy, FICS as new members and fellows of the branch. We also had Mr. Mohamad Ahmad Renno - Regional Manager from Islamic P & I Club (Hi-Tea sponsor for the evening) who gave an insight into why sponsoring the ICS was important to their organization. The newly elected ICS Global Vice Chairman Krishnan Subramaniam, FICS also gave an insight into the global ICS picture The Middle East branch also launched the Understanding Shipping Program with the first cohort scheduled to start on January 23, 2024. Finally, ICS ME Chairman Ali Canani FICS closed the event thanking the attendees, acknowledging the efforts of team especially the volunteers. In specific, special mention to Sharon Easo for her dedicated service to the branch activities.
