The Bahrain Ship Agents Association (BSAA) and Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Middle East Branch jointly organized a seminar in Bahrain on 26th March 2018. This event was well received with over 30 professionals attending from various company members of BSAA.
The initiative generated a lot of enthusiasm among the participants who demanded to have more academic / professional events in Bahrain. BSAA is also considering a regular plan of academic activities aimed at raising the standards of practitioners in Bahrain.
The seminar was the result of some good work by the leadership team of BSAA and in particular, the General Secretary, Mr Ravindu Rodrigo together with the Middle East branch team of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
Mr Krishnan Subramaniam, President of the Institute - ME Branch highlighted the importance of career development and continuous education. Updating the industry trends and networking are essential for professionals to stay competitive.
Mr Krishna Prasad, Vice President of the ICS - ME Branch made a presentation on Bill of Lading and its relevance in Ocean Transport. The presentation was followed by an interactive session with prospective students explaining the various programmes offered by the Institute.
A second session dedicated to potential Institute students gave to the branch representatives the opportunity to illustrate the ICS qualification system, exam options, etc.
The feedback was encouraging and we hope to put Bahrain on the Institute map of its regular Examination centres.
