The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, the professional body for the commercial shipping industry worldwide, has recognised its students who have excelled in the academic year 2021-2022, during a recent celebratory ceremony.
The Institute held its Annual Prize Giving Ceremony on Thursday, 13th October, at London's Trinity House. The worthy recipients of this year's awardsfrom locations all around the worldwere presented with their prizes and photographed to record their achievements.
This year, the Shipwrights Award for the most successful candidate overall in the examinations went to Kishore Kumar Ravindran Shobana from Chennai in India.
Some students won several prizes. From Hull, Luke Thompson went home with the ARMAC award for the highest marks in the Foundation Diploma in Port Agency, as well as the E A Gibson Shipbrokers award for gaining the highest marks in Introduction to Shipping. From London, Claire Williamson won the Clarksons award for gaining the highest marks in the Foundation Diploma in Dry Cargo Charteringand the SPNL award for the most successful first year candidate sitting examinations in London.
Kevin Shakesheff FICS, President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers adressing the guests said:

The education of students to a certified professional standard is at the core of what we do and we fully understand the commitment and sacrifice it takes to study these exams, juggling work and personal responsibilities.
These students have gained the highest mark worldwide in their respective subject, an incredible achievement; well done. "
The past 12 months saw 911 students sit 1560 papers in November 2021 and 1094 sit 2164 papers in 85 examination centres in May 2022.
