Meeting onboard "RFA Cardigan Bay"
On the occasion of the official visits of the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Lord Mountevans and the UK Minister of State for Transport Mr Robert Goodwill MP during the Posidonia Exhibition, a meeting was organized with Institute's Greece Branch, on Monday 6th June onboard the "RFA Cardigan Bay".
The Chairman of the Greece Branch, Mr Nicolas Tsavliris, the Vice-Chairman Ms Natalia Margioli, Members and Lecturers, Mr Ioannis Kehagias CEO, White Sea Navigation S.A., Mr George Lambrou Partner Thomas Cooper, Mr Konstantinos Bitounis Solicitor Waterson Hicks, Mr Simon Ward Director URSA S&P S.A. and Ms Georgia Simiakaki Attorney-at-Law represented the Branch.
A meeting ensued with the British officials, where the importance of maritime education and the difference it makes for the shipping industry were discussed in view of current market conditions. Further ways of co-operation between the Greek and British shipping sectors were discussed and the role of the Institute in the international shipping community was highlighted.
After the meeting, the Captain and the extremely welcoming crew of the naval vessel took the visitors on a tour, explaining her features and various functions.
