Workshop on Liquid Bulk Business& Vessel Chartering
On the 26th of January 2024, Mr. Krishnan Subramaniam (FICS) ICS International Vice- Chairman conducted a full day workshop in Cape Town and 10 people attended this workshop. The topics included Cargo trade, types of tankers, Demurrage & Laytime, Vessel economics, and current market challenges, focused on the liquid cargo and tanker trades. The active discussions included practical insights and quick tips for enhanced effectiveness at the workplace. Stay tuned for similar workshops in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Similar workshops are planned in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg later in the year.
Durban Luncheon
ICS South Africa hosted an industry luncheon recently where ICS International Vice Chairman Krishnan Subramaniam, talked about the global presence of the ICS members network and the benefits for members. He highlighted the current challenge of knowledge gap between the academia and the needs of the industry, and the role ICS plays to bridge this gap. He also requested industry professionals to assist in this endeavor for the benefit of all stakeholders. Ecinga Gwaza, (ICS Communication Coordinator), talked about the importance of enrolling for the ICS Understanding Shipping course when you want to start a career in the Shipping industry and topics covered in the course. Vanessa Naidoo, served as a Master of Ceremonies, representing WISTA South Africa. She introduced the organization as a global network of women in the management, maritime, trading, and logistics sectors, emphasizing the vital role of women in the maritime sector. WISTA and ICS South Africa have collaborated to provide seven WISTA members with opportunities to pursue educational advancement in the maritime sector through the ICS in 2023/2024.
