REPORT OF WORLD MARITIME DAY CELEBRATION 2015

CELEBRATIONS & SEMINAR ON WEDNESDAY 30th September 2015
At ZAVER HALL - PEARL CONTINENTAL HOTEL, KARACHI
The Nautical Institute - Pakistan Branch, in collaboration with The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, Karachi - Pakistan has organized function to celebrate the world maritime day 2015.
The theme as approved by the council of the international Maritime Organization is: -
"IMO 2015: 'MARITIME EDUCATION AND TRAINING"
To highlight the day in a be-fitting manner there were one-day seminar on the above theme, which were divided in three (3) session viz:-
1) Inaugural Session followed by Hi-Tea - 0930 hrs - 1100 hrs
2) Technical session I followed by Lunch - 1130 hrs - 1400 hrs
3) Technical session II followed by Tea - 1500 hrs - 1800 hrs
4) Closing session followed by Dinner - 2000 hrs - 2230 hrs
Captain Robert McCabe FNI, The President of the Nautical Institute, UK and Dato Radzak Malek FCILT, The Vice Chairman of the Chartered Institute of logistics & Transport, International Malaysia , were the Guests of honors of the celebration
Souvenir was released at this occasion which contains the message and all papers which were introduced in both Technical Session (5 copies of the souvenirs being dispatched by aircoruier)
INAUGURAL SESSION:
Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session was Federal Minister, Ports& Shipping but due to other pressing commitments he was unable to attend but he delegated to Director General Ports & Shipping to represent him in the inaugural session
It was anticipated that maximum there will be 100 participants and therefore we made the arrangement for 100 participants but there were 150 participants in inaugural and Technical sessions so immediately arrangement were made for additional persons
Key Note address was presented by Capt. Robert McCabe FNI, President Nautical Institute
Message of IMO Secretary General was Read by Capt Khurshid Khalid, whereas ICS-HQ message was run on video which has given good impression and uplift the image of ICS-Pakistan
TECHNICAL SESSION-I:
5 scholarly papers were introduced by the speakers Technical; Session -I
All the papers were of international standard, there were Q/A sessions as well
Capt. Robert McCabe FNI, President Nautical Institute was the session Chairman
Five (5) papers introduced in this session, there was Q/A session as well
Among others Dato Radzak Malek FCILT, President of the Chartered Institute of logistics & Transport, Malaysia and vice Chairman CILT-International also introduced his paper
TECHNICAL SESSION-II:
5 scholarly papers were also introduced by the speakers Technical; Session -II
Vice Admiral (R) Shafqat Javed, Chairman Karachi Port Trustwas the session Chairman
Five (5) papers introduced in this session as well, there was Q/A session
RECOMMENDATION OF THE SEMINAR:
Immediately after the Technical session, the recommendation Committee consists of:-

CLOSING SESSION:
Technical sessions were prolonged hence attendance was quite low only 100 persons participated against expectation of 200 guests
Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony was Vice Admiral (R) Shafqat Javed, Chairman Karachi Port Trustand Guest of Honor was Mr. Abdul Malik Ghauri , Director General Ports & Shipping, Govt. of Pakisatn
Recommendations of the Seminar was presented by Mrs. Azra Samadani
