Posted on Saturday, February 21, 2015
Sean Walsh (Finance Manager) and Jeremy Owen (Education Officer) visited the Institutes' Pakistan Branch between 16th and 21st February 2015. A visit from the Institute's head office in London has not taken place for a number of years, and was widely anticipated by all concerned.
Throughout the visit, the Pakistan branch repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to Maritime training at their first class facilities based in Karachi. Situated, opposite Karachi Port Trust (KPT) one of the main ports in Karachi, it no doubt offers inspiration to ICS students and aspiring maritime professionals.

Throughout the week long visit, opportunities to discuss face to face Institute business and member and student activity were top of the agenda. The commitment to promote the values of the Institute was keenly expressed by all throughout the numerous meetings with local dignitaries and businesses alike. Most notably PNSC (Pakistan National Shipping Corporation), whose commitment to the Institute will be shown through a new learning and development policy whereby staff will be adopting ICS examinations.
Following the conclusion of business over the week, it was quite apparent of the true value membership of the Institute can bring to a shipping professional. With commitment from head office and the Pakistan branch, the future for students and members will flourish in Pakistan.
